Advocate Health is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the IL Central Lab: Microbiology team in Illinois. The role involves performing, evaluating, and monitoring laboratory tests, ensuring quality control, and supporting multiple departments. Shift is 3rd with hours 9:00 p.m.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences or related field.
• Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports findings.
• Maintains and calibrates instruments, and identifies malfunctions; applies corrections when needed.
• Ensures quality control and quality assurance per protocol; takes corrective action as indicated.
• Ensures proper labeling and suitability of specimens for testing.
• Provides training and guidance to lab staff and students as assigned.
• Aids in improving lab procedures, policies and processes and ensures compliance with accrediting standards.
• Performs proficiency testing and supports various testing areas including microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
• Supports critical care departments with timely results during high-acuity events.
• Demonstrates care appropriate to patient age groups served.
