Job summary

180 Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville in Downtown Jacksonville seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join the Microbiology lab. This is a full-time night position focusing on receiving and processing specimens and operating an automated processor.

The role covers gram stains, stat molecular testing, susceptibility testing setup, and quality control. Training is three weeks; supervision may be required in the absence of other staff, with licensure rules applicable in Florida.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; bachelor's preferred.
• Certifications/licensure as MT/MLT or Florida license required.
• 2 years of Medical Technologist experience preferred.
• Experience with lab processing and quality control is implied.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and processing specimens and operating an automated processor.
• Perform gram stains, stat molecular testing, and susceptibility testing setup.
• Maintain performance records per SOPs and assist in supervision when needed.
• Provide training to new employees and students.

Certified Medical Technologist (MT) Preferred

Licensed Medical Technologist Required
