Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Ross Heart Hospital is seeking a Med Lab Tech for the Microbiology testing department. The role involves specimen processing, test entry and verification, and performing routine microbiology testing including smears, cultures, and susceptibility testing.

Minimum qualifications include an associate degree in Medical Technology/Med Lab Science or a biological science degree with MT/MLS certification; MLS certification must be obtained within 1 year

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Medical Technology/Med Lab Science or biological science with MT/MLS certification.
• MLS certification required within 1 year of hire if not certified; first board exam within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing and test request entry.
• Verify and correct order entry as part of the workflow.
• Perform and interpret clinical lab testing in Microbiology, including smears, cultures, identification and susceptibility tests.
• Engage in QC, inventory control, professional development, and ongoing education within the area.
