Florida Woman Care is seeking a Microbiology Lab Technician/Technologist responsible for specimen processing across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical stages.

We are the largest OB/GYN group practice in Florida, with a state-of-the-art CAP-accredited lab in Tampa, specializing in GYN, Cytopathology, and Clinical Pathology. Our network includes over 200 medical offices and 600 OB/GYN providers statewide. Our laboratory performs Histology, Cytology, Molecular Microbiology, and Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT).

Responsibilities

• Perform simple to complex testing following established protocols.
• Adhere to all SOPs, policies, and protocols.
• Conduct all testing processes accurately and independently.
• Report results via Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Prepare specimens and identify related issues.
• Implement quality control measures, including temperature monitoring and instrument maintenance.
• Document quality control activities to support QA initiatives.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues affecting test performance.
• Record corrective actions for deviations.
• Assist in workflow management and report delays or issues.
• Monitor turnaround times and workflow efficiency.
• Assist with validation of new tests and procedures.
• Maintain records demonstrating PT sample testing consistency.
• Clean and maintain lab equipment and workspace.
• Manage inventory of reagents and supplies, adhering to safety regulations.
• Follow all safety and laboratory procedures.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences/Medical Technology or related field (required).
• Bachelor's degree (preferred).
• At least 1 year of microbiology testing experience.
• Certification as Medical Technician, MLS, or MT (preferred).
• Experience with Beckman-Coulter instruments (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and quality control procedures.
