Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Microbiology, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related life science.
• 3 to 5 years hands-on microbiology laboratory experience.
• 1 to 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong technical background in microscopy, aseptic techniques, microbial limits testing, bioburden testing, or identification assays.
• In-depth understanding of laboratory health and safety requirements.
• Ability to follow and review SOPs.
• Proficiency with LIMS and Microsoft Office.
• Strong root-cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily lab workflows, sample processing, and test turnaround times.
• Assist in proficiency testing and affiliated laboratory accreditation requirements.
• Prioritize and schedule staff assignments to ensure complete shift coverage.
• Maintain inventories of reagents, media, and lab supplies, ordering materials as needed.
• Oversee calibration, maintenance, validation, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
• Review and approve test data, environmental monitoring reports, and final documentation.
• Investigate non-conformance events and the implementation of CAPAs.
• Assist in maintaining the laboratory’s internal quality control (QC) programs.
• Direct supervision of microbiologists, lab analysts, and technicians.
• Conduct training on SOPs and perform ongoing staff competency assessments.
• Mentor team members and resolve operational or interpersonal conflicts.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations & Workflow Management

• Oversee daily lab workflows, sample processing, and test turnaround times.
• Assist in proficiency testing and affiliated laboratory accreditation requirements.
• Prioritize and schedule staff assignments to ensure complete shift coverage.
• Maintain inventories of reagents, media, and lab supplies, ordering materials as needed.
• Oversee calibration, maintenance, validation, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure all testing complies with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, GMP, CLIA, CAP, or OSHA).
• Review and approve test data, environmental monitoring reports, and final documentation.
• Investigate non-conformance events and the implementation of effective CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions).
• Assist in maintaining the laboratory’s internal quality control (QC) programs.

Personnel Leadership & Training

• Direct supervision of microbiologists, lab analysts, and technicians.
• Conduct training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and perform ongoing staff competency assessments.
• Mentor team members and resolve operational or interpersonal conflicts.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

• Bachelor’s in Microbiology, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related life science.

Experience

• 3 to 5 years of hands‑on microbiology laboratory experience.
• 1 to 2 years of proven leadership or supervisory experience.
• Strong technical background in microscopy, aseptic techniques, microbial limits testing, bioburden testing, or identification assays.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• In-depth understanding of Chemical and Biological Laboratory Health and Safety requirements.
• Ability to follow and periodically review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Proficient with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong root‑cause analysis and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
