Job summary

University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform tests on blood and body fluids, supporting diagnosis and treatment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in lab science and ASCP certification (or equivalent) and eligibility for ASCP; flexibility to rotate shifts and weekends.

You will document results with written reports and operate under supervision as needed, complying with CLIA '88 requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and ASCP certification in one or more specialty areas.
• Or Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory/medical technology science and completion of an AMA approved laboratory training program and eligible for ASCP certification.
• Or completion of an approved government training program and eligible for ASCP certification.
• Verbal communication skills required to interact with other hospital personnel.
• Writing skills and computer aptitude required to document test results and prepare reports of daily work.
• Must be able to stand for long periods.
• Must be available to rotate shifts and work weekends and holidays.
• All technologists must meet the CLIA '88 requirements for the complexity level of work performed

Responsibilities

• Performs tests on blood and body fluids to provide information for diagnosing and combating disease.
• Works independently with moderate supervision from a Medical Technologist Supervisor or the Director of Laboratory Operations.
• May be assigned to work in a specialized section within the department.
