Job summary

LabMinds Staffing & Recruiting, LLC is seeking a Medical Technologist for a hospital-based microbiology role in Bethel, Alaska. You will conduct clinical diagnostic testing, maintain QC standards, operate instrumentation, and communicate critical results to physicians and staff.

You will mentor Medical Laboratory Assistants, work with autonomy, and ensure safety and compliance with accreditation requirements in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or a related field.
• Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible MT (ASCP) or CLS (NCA); must attain within 12 months of employment.
• Experience: 1–3 years of clinical laboratory experience with a microbiology focus.
• Instrumentation: Proficient using clinical lab instrumentation and quality control procedures.
• Core competencies: Ability to work autonomously, handle high-volume workloads, and mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing and diagnostic evaluations in clinical microbiology and general labs.
• Document and perform routine quality control, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on instruments.
• Review, interpret and validate results; communicate critical values to healthcare providers.
• Coordinate with physicians and clinical teams on specimen requirements, test interpretation, and results.
• Provide operational support and daily direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety, accreditation standards, and quality management policies.
