Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Microbiology Technologist to perform medium to high-complexity microbiology testing according to established SOPs, ensuring quality and accurate results. The role includes documenting procedures, quality control, and contributing to patient care.

The ideal candidate will have MLS (ASCP) certification (or be eligible to obtain within one year), with a 40-hour work week and a Thursday–Sunday schedule.

Qualifications

• MLS (ASCP) certification required within one year of onboarding
• M(ASCP) certification preferred
• B.A./B.S. in biology, chemistry or related discipline acceptable, MLS/ASCP within one year

Responsibilities

• Performs medium to high complexity microbiology testing with high quality per SOPs.
• Maintains documentation/competency for all steps
• Analyzes and records patient test results with accuracy
• Interprets susceptibility patterns and antibiotic resistance mechanisms
• Performs QC procedures per regulatory guidelines
• Takes part in training and education of staff and students
• Participates in verification/validation studies for process improvements and new technology transfer

Education

MLS (ASCP) acceptable

M(ASCP) preferred

B.A./B.S. in Biology, Chemistry, or related scientific discipline acceptable
