Job summary

WK Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for a 7-on/7-off night shift (8:45 PM–7:15 PM), performing a full range of microbiology testing and routine lab duties. The role requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field and licensure in Louisiana with MT/CLS/ASCP certification.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, preparing for inspections, and providing clinical test results support to patient providers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field with one year of clinical laboratory experience.
• Preferred Microbiology experience; valid Louisiana State License in Clinical Laboratory Science and certification MT/CLS/ASCP or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of simple-to-complex patient testing and laboratory services in Microbiology.
• Recognize deviations from expected results by ensuring sample suitability and accuracy.
• Resolve inconsistencies and correct problems using scientific principles.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Prepare the laboratory for inspection by regulatory agencies.
• Monitor, maintain, and stock laboratory supplies.
• Provide customer service to answer questions from patient providers regarding test processes and results.
