Job summary

Johnsonville invites applications for a Microbiology Lab Internship at our Sheboygan Falls facility. Trainees will learn industrial food microbiology workflows, collaborate with R&D, Operations and Engineering teams, and contribute to real projects within Johnsonville’s Laboratory Team.

Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in relevant science fields, with strong knowledge of microbiology and food safety. On-site work with potential travel between facilities.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related science field (food/meat science, microbiology, biochemistry, biology).
• Junior or senior status preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct microbiology QC and pathogen testing using standard and rapid detection methods.
• Lead studies to evaluate new detection technologies and processing procedures.
• Generate and analyze microbiological data and reports.
• Collect environmental swabs and samples from materials and products.
• Troubleshoot microbiological/quality issues in production and materials.
• Support R&D, Operations, and Manufacturing teams.
• Assist in food safety/quality improvement initiatives across units.
• Shadow or assist in the chemistry lab.
