Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a laboratory assistant at Wake Forest University Health Sciences – Academic Microbiology Immunology. Under direct supervision from a higher level technician or a principal investigator, you will assist in performing a variety of standardized physical, chemical, or biological tests.

Procedures and techniques are outlined in detail with the employee exercising limited discretion and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Biotechnology or related field.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• Ability to perform standardized physical, chemical, or biological tests.

Responsibilities

• Conducts standardized chemical and physical tests on specimens.
• Operates laboratory equipment for mixing, weighing, and preparing specimens.
• Makes minor adjustments to calibrate various testing and electronic equipment.
• Assists with microanalysis, enzymatic studies, chromatography, and related analyses.
• Assists with animal experiments under supervision.
• Maintains clean and sanitary lab environment and handles protective gear.
• Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
