Detailed Job Description

As the Microbiologist, you coordinate and perform tests for SARS-CoV-2 and other targets of public health concern in wastewater and water samples. Duties include sample examination, analyses, recording, interpreting, and result reporting. You must complete all required Quality Control, comply with certification requirements, and maintain safety standards. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7.5 hours per day.

The essential functions of this role include:

• Conduct wastewater sample concentration, RNA extraction, and PCR molecular testing.
• Maintain laboratory record system of submitted samples.
• Evaluate, interpret, and validate laboratory results.
• Conduct quality control checks on laboratory methods, materials, and equipment.
• Assist with preparation of reports from compiled data.
• Participate in evaluation of new products used in environmental laboratory work.
