Job summary

Perrigo Company seeks a qualified Microbiology professional to join our FDA‑regulated lab team in Ohio. You will perform microbiological assays, document results, and maintain strict QA/audit readiness across the facility.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or related field, 1+ year in GMP environments, strong written/verbal communication, and meticulous attention to detail with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Food Sciences or related required.
• 1+ years’ experience in FDA regulated GMP environment in food or pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory setting preferred.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and in a high-functioning team.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibility for results.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological analyses and routine laboratory functions.
• Ensure date entry, data validation, and recordkeeping meet audit standards.
• Maintain laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and repair.
• Maintain clean, organized lab notebooks and inventory with 5S practices.
• Support process validation, protocol support, and sample collection as needed.
• Ensure allergen testing is performed and documented.

Scope of the Role

• Microbiological skills including:
• Aerobic plate counts
• Most probable number analysis
• Isolating and identifying bacterial cultures
• ELISA
• PCR
• Media preparation
• Good aseptic technique
• Routine laboratory functions
• Date entry and validation
• Maintaining bacterial control cultures
• Instrument calibration, maintenance, and repair
• Maintaining the laboratory and notebooks in an always audit prepared state
• Inventory, maintaining 5S organization, and cleaning
• Process Validation and Protocol Support
• Process equipment inspections and sample collection
• Allergen testing

Experience Required

• Bachelor of Science in a Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Food Sciences or related required.
• 1+ years’ experience working in FDA regulated GMP environment in either a food or pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory setting preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills, excellent documentation and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a high functioning team.
• Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibility for the results.
• Ability to work overtime as needed
