Job summary

Tarrant County Public Health operates a North Texas regional laboratory providing comprehensive laboratory services across microbiology, chemistry, immunology, virology and parasitology. The role focuses on performing analyses, maintaining quality control, and ensuring regulatory compliance while supporting clients and agencies.

The position requires a science degree with microbiology hours, several years of laboratory experience, and relevant certifications; strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science with a minimum of 30 hours in microbiology and biology.
• Associate's degree in applied science with a minimum of 20 hours of biological science.
• Certifications such as MT/MLT, ASCP or equivalent are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory analysis of water, food, milk, dairy, environmental and clinical specimens.
• Conduct QC and preventive maintenance on tests, equipment, reagents, and media; document results.
• Review testing results for accuracy, precision, and regulatory violations.
• Report results to submitters and regulatory agencies electronically or in writing.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and order as needed.
• Provide test results and information to customers; respond to inquiries.
• Participate in proficiency testing and inspections by regulatory agencies.
• Contribute to evaluation/validation of new test methods.
• Prepare SOPs and forms; update as required.
• Provide training on new procedures or for new staff.
