Job summary

North Texas Regional Laboratory provides diverse laboratory services including microbiology, chemistry, immunology, and virology testing. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science with 30 hours in microbiology/biology or an AS with 20 hours biology.
• 3 years of lab science with a BA or 5 years with an AS.
• Desirable certifications: DSHS milk/dairy, TCEQ/NELAC drinking water, MT/MLT/ASCP or equivalent.
• Must provide evidence of a Class C driver's license with liability insurance.
• Familiarity with microbiology, immunology, parasitology, molecular biology, virology, chemistry; good lab practices, quality control/assurance.
• Good written and oral communication; ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory analysis of water, food, milk/dairy, environmental, and clinical specimens.
• Conduct QC and preventive maintenance on tests and equipment; document regulatory compliance.
• Review testing results for accuracy and regulatory violations.
• Report results to submitters/regulatory agencies in writing, electronically, or orally.
• Maintain test workload records and inventory; order supplies timely.
• Provide training on new procedures; assist other lab sections as needed.
