Job description

Job Description
  • Perform microbiological testing/environmental monitoring of plant utilities and production processes. Generates raw data for management review, and performs data entry into data management system (SAP). Calibrates and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Compiles laboratory raw data and prepares summary reports. Provides laboratory support in the areas of ordering and stocking supplies, laboratory cleaning and shipping of test samples to contract laboratories. Applies knowledge of good manufacturing practices and good laboratory practices on a daily basis.
  • Skills:
    • Employees must be able to lift or handle objects greater than 25 pounds to perform certain duties essential to the job function. Employees may be required to perform tasks essential to the job function in areas that require the use of hearing protection devices.
    • Performance of tasks essential to the job function may require the employee to work directly with, handle, or otherwise come into contact with chemicals or pharmaceutical agents. Employees must be able to wear a respiratory protection (filtering face piece, 1/2 face, full-face, or powered air purifying respirator, supplied air, or self-contained breathing apparatus) for certain tasks essential to the job function.
    • Employees must be able to gain access to elevated work surfaces via vertical ladders or stairs to perform tasks essential to the job function.
    • Employees may be required to enroll in a medical surveillance program based on the potential exposure to certain health hazards encountered as a result of their job function.
    • Employees must be able to accurately detect color and have 20/20 vision (with/without corrective lenses). Visual Acuity test will be needed for this position.
    • This position is primarily for performing microbiological environmental monitoring in clean rooms for the quality control organization for pharmaceutical manufacturing, so the position requires work in clean rooms, mechanical spaces and within the laboratory.
    • The position requires climbing ladders/platforms associated with water tanks/sample ports; therefore no issues with fear of heights or the use of gowning materials and PPE.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline is required. Equivalent experience may be accepted.
