Job summary

Meissner Filtration Products, Inc. seeks a Microbiologist I to support the Micro Lab in Camarillo, CA. You will assist with QC bacterial challenges, LAL testing, and reading environmental monitoring data to back QA, manufacturing and R&D.

On-site role with extensive hands-on lab duties and equipment adjustments. The role requires a BS in microbiology or related field, 0–2 years experience, strong English communication, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology or related field; 0–2 years experience or equivalent.
• Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Office and basic mathematical applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform filter QC bacterial challenge tests and LAL (endotoxin) tests.
• Read environmental monitoring test results to support QA, R&D and manufacturing.
• Monitor water systems and perform LAL testing; prepare DI water for LAL.
• Manufacture distilled water for LAL usage and read environmental monitoring plates.
• Adjust controls of pumps, filters and autoclaves to optimize results.
• Wash glassware and prepare media following recipes.
• Order and manage laboratory supplies to ensure timely task completion.

Responsibilities

The Microbiologist I is part of Meissner Technical Services (MTS) department which is a key component to Meissner’s commitment to quality. The Microbiologist I assists in performing filter Quality Control bacterial challenge tests, LAL (endotoxin) tests, and reading environmental monitoring test results to support manufacturing, R&D and Quality departments.

• Utilize knowledge of aseptic techniques as required.
• Monitoring of water systems inclusive of LAL testing
• Total Organic Carbon testing
• Daily reading of water system parameters
• Manufacturing of distilled water (DI) used for LAL.
• QC Bacterial Challenge testing of membranes.
• Monthly LAL testing of Single Use Systems.
• Reading of Environmental Monitoring plates.
• Gram staining for Environmental Monitoring plates.
• Growth Promotion on media.
• Preparation of Media following recipes.
• Monitoring of Laboratory supplies.
• Order supplies to ensure timely completion of tasks in Micro Lab.
• Adjust controls of equipment such as pumps, filters, and autoclaves to obtain optimum results.
• Wash glassware as necessary for laboratory use.

Location: On-site role based out of our headquarters in Camarillo, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four‑year college or university in microbiology, biology, or a related subject; 0 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong English language written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong aptitude to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Proficiency with MS Office software including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe.
• Proficiency in mathematical applications such as logs, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Compensation

US Base Pay Scale: $24.47 - $29.52 per hour

The base pay scale for this role is what Meissner reasonably expects to pay for the position although actual pay may vary from this scale depending on an applicant's experience.
