Job Scope:

The Micro portion of the job requirements are aseptic sampling and testing of all products, water, swabs, and entering all data accurately into spreadsheets. The Utility portion is to accurately test all finished products for chemistry, test Heufts, verify can and lot codes, ensure all packaging is correct, and enter all data into RedZone while providing break relief for the lab technicians.

Responsibilities:

Job responsibilities for the Micro Technician related items include but are not limited to:

  • Aseptic sampling
  • Pulling retains for retest
  • Retest plating
  • Aseptic RO Water sampling (weekly)
  • Aseptic RO Water plating (weekly)
  • Air Plate preparation
  • Daily Air Plate sampling
  • Ingredient Aseptic sampling (when directed)
  • Ingredient plating (when directed)
  • Plate reading
  • Collecting RO Water Silo sample for Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and pH weekly
  • Data Entry for all results
  • Pulling 3 rd Party Lab results into folder
  • Micro Supply Inventory Management

Job responsibilities for the Utility Technician related items include but are not limited to:

  • Perform all required chemistry and finished product quality checks promptly with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Accurately enter all test results into the RedZone platform
  • Ability to prepare samples accurately for testing according to SOP.
  • Ability to operate the Red post to collect pasteurization data and create reports.
  • Ability to set up and calibrate the Heuft x-ray machines.
  • Ability to calibrate pH meters, Brix Abbemat, Alcolyzer, Hanna auto TA titrator, and PFD/C-box.
  • Ability to operate OneVision seam analysis machine and generate reports for release.
  • Perform TOA analysis on finished products.
  • Assist in the inspection of incoming products/materials - PQC program.
  • Ability to accurately interpret data to support the production department.
  • Ability to recognize critical quality defects and shut down the production line and eliminate when necessary.
  • Alert leadership promptly to any quality issues that arise.
  • Follow prescribed escalation plan on off hours and weekends to alert senior leadership of issues needing immediate attention.
  • Support the Batching department with prompt accurate results.
  • Assist operators/line support as needed.
  • General understanding of the hold and release procedures.
  • Ability to accurately identify out of specification conditions that require a product hold and follow hold procedures to isolate, and tag affected products.
  • Inspect finished goods for defects including all cartons, trays, bullseye location, stretch wrap position, tensile strength, and any other quality checks prescribed by management.
  • Collect and store retain samples according to the retain policy.
  • Operators can coding equipment with exceptional accuracy and verify all lot code information at the prescribed frequency.
  • Assist the production department in verifying all lot code information on finished product materials for each product produced. Tray codes, carton codes, stickers, ect.
  • Assist lab supervisor on consumable supply inventory and reorder of all needed supplies for the department.
  • Work in a timely fashion in a team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of Laboratory Experience.
  • Knowledge of basic microbiology and plating techniques.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction
  • Ability to complete work with high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to use Google and Microsoft programs
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • High level of time management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills
  • Ability to lift up to 20# unassisted
