Shift Schedule

12‑hour night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, following a rotating 2‑2‑3 schedule. Staff work every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Shift differential is $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Job Purpose

Entry‑level laboratory support for the Quality Department. Responsibilities include water testing, raw milk testing, pasteurized load‑out testing, finished product testing, daily reporting, data entry, project assistance, special studies, and inter‑departmental communication.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and prepare samples for microbiological testing; perform colony counts and record results.
  • Collect environmental samples.
  • Operate laboratory equipment correctly, including microbiological plating, pH meters, and other instrumentation.
  • Use instrumentation safely, efficiently, and sanitarily.
  • Fill out laboratory data worksheets and logs accurately.
  • Maintain confidential results and reports per the Company Letter of Confidentiality; communicate results promptly and professionally.
  • Keep work area clean, orderly, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Use Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Prepare solutions and media required for laboratory tests.
  • Notify the QC Supervisor and/or Quality Manager of unusual results, product defects, or re‑checks needed.
  • Report damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions to the QC Supervisor and/or Quality Manager.
  • Follow all safety, GMP, and GLP procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Skills / Qualifications Required
  • Experience in a laboratory environment with basic laboratory skills and relevant coursework.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, and able to work efficiently.
  • Minimum of an associate’s degree in microbiology, biology, food science or related field.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • 40‑45 hours per week, involving sitting, standing, walking, and lifting.
  • Must lift up to 50 lbs; assistance available.
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Notify supervision of repairs or adjustments affecting product quality or food safety.
  • Understand and comply with color‑coded container policy in production areas.
  • Meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements and standards.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities related to food safety and quality.
  • Identify and record food safety and quality problems.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until corrected.
  • In the event of absence, a colleague with the same skill level will assume duties.
