Michael's Cafe Chef/Manager

JGS Lifecare, located in the quaint town of Longmeadow, MA, has been the proud caretaker of the elderly within the local community for over 100 years! Founded on the Jewish principle of respecting age as a blessing, we have dedicated ourselves to delivering the best in elder care services to people of every faith and background. Our spacious campus has a full array of services including Skilled Nursing, Senior Living, and Community programs that consist of traditional long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, memory care, assisted living, hospice, and day health support services. Our employees are an outstanding team of professionals who go above and beyond each day with their compassionate care to our residents and the individuals we serve.

We are searching for a friendly, enthusiastic, and reliable café leader who loves interacting with guests and is committed to delivering outstanding guest service.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be a customer service expert who will meet and greet guests with a smile.
  • Support the overall operations of the café.
  • Able to multitask and have great time management.
  • Work independently and maintain sanitation of the general café, maintain HACCP logs, and handle the cash register, processing credit cards.
  • Maximize the highest level of guest service by listening, sharing, presenting products, selling products, and responding to guests' needs in a timely manner.
  • Ring merchandise transactions following proper procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Friendly, positive attitude.
  • Experience in a restaurant/food service environment.
  • Experience in menu planning.
  • Experience in a lunch/café atmosphere.
  • Must possess a Serv-Safe certificate or be able to complete certification requirements.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Must possess creativity, strong communication skills, and exceptional customer service and be able to relate professionally and positively to residents, family members, staff, and the public.
  • Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, family members, staff, and the public.
  • Must meet all health requirements in accordance with laws and set forth by the policies of the facility.

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity and motor coordination required to handle dishes and trays rapidly and efficiently and to work with various cleaning supplies.
  • Adaptability to work that involves the ability to perform short-cycle repetitive duties under specific instructions.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • High frequencies of standing, walking, bending, reaching above shoulder level, crouching, and pushing/pulling.
  • Frequently squats, kneels, and balances.
  • May be exposed to low/high temperatures and uncomfortable odors.
  • Ability to see, hear, feel, read, write, and verbalize clearly in English.
