Job summary

The Jackson Laboratory is seeking a Veterinary Technologist I to provide veterinary care for sick or injured mice and assist clinicians in maintaining animal health and welfare at the Ellsworth facility.

Responsibilities include basic pharmacy duties, medical record keeping, and collaboration with JAX researchers. The role requires a BS/AS in a related field or equivalent experience, and a flexible schedule with potential on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• BS/AS in Animal Science or related field, or HS diploma with 2 years' rodent experience and relevant coursework.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Proficient with word processing, spreadsheets, and data recording tools.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, participate in on-call rotation, and travel as needed.
• Must be a cooperative team player and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care to sick or injured mice under supervision.
• Perform physical evaluations and identify common clinical conditions in mice.
• Routinely treat and monitor responses to treatments.
• Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with research staff.
• Assist with entry-level pharmacy duties including order fulfillment and inventory.
