Job summary

AKAM is seeking a reliable Building Maintenance Technician in Miami to keep the property safe, functional, and presentable. You will perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance tasks across common areas, with a focus on quality service and timely response to work orders.

The ideal candidate has hands-on maintenance experience, strong problem-solving, and excellent communication. This is a full-time role with weekday hours and on-call rotations, offering benefits after probation

Qualifications

• Proven experience in residential maintenance or handyman services (HOA, multifamily, or large property).
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
• Ability to safely use hand and power tools and provide your own tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• English speaking/writing; Spanish is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certificates preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform general HVAC maintenance, such as clearing lines and changing filters.
• Handle general plumbing tasks like replacing fixtures and plumbing lines.
• Maintain ladders, clean fans, gutters, and AC vents.
• Do minor electrical work like changing fixtures.
• Replace or install locksets with OTC hardware.
• Inspect property regularly and address maintenance issues proactively.
• Maintain and repair equipment in common areas (lobbies, halls, pools, etc.).
• Respond to work orders promptly and professionally.
• Ensure safety protocols and HOA codes are followed.
• Clean trash receptacles inside buildings and around the community.
• Update maintenance logs and inventory records.
• Set up/break down for community events or board meetings as needed.
• Paint and maintain community areas as directed.
• Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating basis.
