Qualifications

Utility Locate Technician

Utility Locate Technicians accurately locate underground facilities such as electric power lines, gas lines, and fiber optic lines. This role ensures compliance with client and state requirements through observing, marking, and documenting utility locations using multiple methods. Technicians work independently or as part of a team under a supervisor, requiring focus, skill, and the use of machinery or tools.

Responsibilities

• Locate underground facilities using transmitters and other detection equipment.
• Work across all terrain types and weather conditions to complete tasks.
• Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to route and perform duties efficiently.
• Conduct locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours.
• Perform all work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while communicating with customers, co–employees, and third parties.
• Maintain a damage‑free environment by coordinating with management, contractors, and utility customers.
• Utilize necessary technology and tools to perform tasks effectively.
• Work collaboratively in a supervised team environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• State‑issued driver’s license.
• Ability to problem‑solve and read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
• Physical capability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Pass a background screening with no violations within the last 5 years.
• Pass a DOT drug test.
