NORMAL WORK HOURS/DAYS: 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. Monday - Friday with flexibility as directed by program needs and supervisor directive

*This employee may participate in the J.B.S. on-call emergency backup*

This is a responsible administrative position assisting with the general management of the day-to-day operation of the Mental Illness Residential Program. This position requires knowledge of program operations, Department of Mental Health Standards and agency policies and procedures. Organizational skills are essential to ensure the smooth and continuous flow of documentation responsibilities throughout the M. I. Residential Program. Work requires initiative and independence in the handling of delegated administrative duties. This employee is responsible for the M. I. Residential Programs ongoing monitoring of compliance with the Standards and the QA process for consumer chart/documentation. Also coordinates the monthly training workshops for supervisory and direct care staff. Participates as a member of the Performance Improvement Committee. Directly responsible for completing the Consumer Census and Movement Reports. Assist with the supervision of the staff directly supervised by the Assistant Director of the M. I. Residential Program.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for assisting with the coordination and management of the Mental Illness Residential Program.
  • Responsible for assisting with maintaining all programs in compliance with standards established by the State Department of Mental Health and Medicaid.
  • Directly responsible for tracking the Consumer Census, completing Movement Reports and maintaining current placements information within the Mental Illness Community Reporting System (MICRS).
  • Directly responsible for the coordination of the monthly training workshops for supervisory and direct care staff in the M. I. Residential Program.
  • Participates as a member of the Performance Improvement Committee and submit written reports as required.
  • Administers appropriate personnel functions as directed by the Program Director.
  • Assists with the day-to-day monitoring of the maintenance/upkeep of properties/equipment.
  • Submits written reports as directed.
  • Assist with the assessment of consumer needs and the development of the consumer's clinical documentation.
  • Provides direct services as required and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree in human service or related Mental Health Discipline. Two years experience working with the mentally ill population preferably in a residential setting. One-year supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid Alabama Driver's license and insurable driving record by agency standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of DMH Administrative Code for Residential Services (Inpatient/Outpatient and Case Management and Nurse Delegation.
  • Knowledge of mental illness, symptoms and treatment regimens.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (Avatar)
  • Ability to organize, coordinate and manage program operations.
  • Ability to monitor, evaluate and implement program changes.
  • Ability to implement and monitor policies, procedures and program objectives.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other agencies and program staff.
  • Flexibility in adjusting to changing demands.
  • Effective verbal and written skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
