Job summary

Latitude is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney for a Michigan-based boutique firm. This part-time, remote role requires MI licensure and the ability to attend court appearances in Michigan.

Ideal candidates have at least 5 years in civil litigation, including commercial and landlord/tenant matters, and can manage cases independently with strong written and oral advocacy. Responsibilities include handling caseloads, discovery, motions, and client communications, and representing clients in court

• Conducting discovery, drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests for production
• Preparing and arguing motions, attending hearings, and participating in settlement negotiations

• Maintaining regular communication with clients to provide updates and explain strategies

Job description

Latitude is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney to join a Michigan-based boutique law firm on a part-time basis. Interested candidates should have at least 5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant matters, including preparing cases for trial, representing clients in court, and managing all phases of the litigation process. Candidates must have a proven ability to handle cases independently. Excellent academic credentials, written and oral advocacy skills are a must. Candidates must be licensed and in good standing in Michigan. The is a remote position but candidates must live in Michigan to attend court appearances and depositions as needed.

Responsibilities Of The MI-Barred Civil Litigation Attorney

• Handling a caseload of litigation matters, developing legal strategies, and preparing cases for trial
• Conducting discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, and other discovery documents
• Preparing and arguing motions, attending hearings, and participating in settlement negotiations
• Representing clients in court, including trials, hearings, and appeals
• Maintaining regular communication with clients to provide updates on case progress and explain legal strategies

• 5+ years of civil litigation experience, preferably at a large law firm
• Commercial litigation and/or landlord/tenant experience preferred
• Licensed to practice and in good standing in Michigan
• J.D. from an accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, professional law firm setting
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and oral advocacy skills

Compensation

Pay: The annualized pay for this position ranges from $140,000-$165,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
