Children's of Alabama seeks a Nursing Advanced Practice Provider to join the Behavioral Health team on the Main Campus Dearth Tower. The role includes on-call/flex evening and night shifts with a minimum of 16 hours per month, including weekends.

The APP will assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients with behavioral health diagnoses. They will collaborate with physicians and staff to provide high-quality, family-centered care within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Requires MSN/PMHNP or DNP with PMHNP specialization.
  • Must be eligible to practice as a NP or PA in Alabama.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • PMHNP certification or PA-C (NCCPA) is preferred.

In Nursing Advanced Practice Providers at Main Campus Dearth Tower

Work schedule will be On-call/ Flexi on the Evening Night Shift, 16 hours per month minimum; night and weekend requirements.

Summary:

The Advanced Practice Provider is an advanced practice registered nurse or physician’s assistant with education, training, certification, and licensure to provide the medical, psychiatric, behavioral, and mental-health care in a variety of treatment settings. The APP will assess, diagnose, and treat pediatric patients with behavioral health diagnoses. This care is provided to support optimal health of children within the context of their family, community, and environmental setting. The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, education, and scholarship. This individual works in collaboration with the collaborating physician, Division Medical Director, staff physicians, Lead APP, Director of Advanced Practice Providers, Department Director, staff nurses and other team members.

Other information:
Education:
  • MSN, DNP or Post-Graduate Certificate with specialization as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner
  • Graduate of master’s or doctoral level physician assistant program
Experience:
  • At least 1 year of nursing or medical experience required with experience in the subspecialty area preferred.
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries:
  • Must be eligible to practice as a nurse practitioner as determined by the Alabama Board of Nursing or as a physician assistant as determined by the Alabama Board of Medicine
  • Current RN Licensure in the State of Alabama for nurse practitioners
  • Current BLS certification
  • Valid PMHNP certification from appropriate certifying board or certification as PA-C from NCCPA
Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:

  • Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner ABON
  • Basic Life Support
  • Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
  • Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
