POSITION: MHES School-Based Technology Coordinator (SBTC) (Job # 3878)

LOCATION: Mount Harmony Elementary School

JOB SUMMARY: The School Based Technology Coordinator will work closely with the Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) Information Technology (IT) staff to resolve problems, coordinate projects, and plan future technology initiatives. This person will accept the responsibilities and restrictions as outlined below. This position will be jointly evaluated by the Principal and the Supervisor of Information Technology.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to work well with others and to communicate appropriately and effectively, both orally and in writing, with students and staff
  • Ability to project a pleasant manner and relate well to students and staff and their requests for assistance
  • Ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
  • Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
  • Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend a two-hour pre-service meeting. Attend quarterly after-hours meetings held at sites to be determined or virtually.
  • Serve as the school-based point of contact with the Department of Information Technology staff.
  • Create, keep and maintain a list of student and staff loaner devices as well as track who they are assigned to.
  • Work with Principal to maintain and store loaner devices so that they are kept charged, clean and ready for deployment.
  • Work with Principal to coordinate distribution and collection of student and staff devices as needed: Plan and assist in device distribution at the beginning of each year, throughout and collection at the end of the year.
  • Work with Principal to provide student and staff loaner device exchange service as needed throughout the day.
  • Review devices in need of service and submit help desk tickets as needed daily.
  • Review and respond to pending help desk tickets daily. This includes inquiries for additional information by the help desk team.
  • Submit help desk tickets using approved submission methods and requirements designated by the Department of Information Technology.
  • Assist users in resolving hardware and software application problems, at Principals discretion.
  • Keeps Principal and staff informed and advised on district and school technology plans and progress.
  • Assist school’s administration in maintaining an inventory of consumable supplies.
  • Prepare and present training to teachers and staff at Principals discretion. This training may involve e-mail communication, informal training during planning times, or formal training before or after-school hours.

OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal and/or Department of Information Technology.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Position requires significant periods of standing and walking, and is performed in a typical school environment.

UNUSUAL DEMANDS: None

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience applied to the current year Extra Pay for Extra Duty Longevity Pay Schedule.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy on evaluation as established by the Calvert County Public Schools.

EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION: School Year 2026-2027

References must be directly related to work experience and must include immediate supervisor.

State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I-9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.
