Summary
Coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Documents initial and ongoing patient assessments in a complete, concise, and timely manner according to MHMC policies.
- Develops, modifies, and implements effective, comprehensive, and individualized care plans, including discharge planning, utilizing standards of care developed by MHMC.
- Provides care appropriate to the patient's age (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) by applying relevant knowledge and skills.
- Initiates and coordinates patient teaching based on identified needs.
- Integrates, delegates, and coordinates patient care using an interdisciplinary approach.
- Delegates responsibilities for care when applicable and assigns tasks according to caregiver skills.
- Evaluates patient responses to interventions according to established MHMC policies.
- Plans and supervises other patient caregivers, functioning as a professional role model.
- Exercises independent judgment in emergencies and evaluates the outcomes of actions taken.
- Administers medication and performs treatments using aseptic techniques, following MHMC policies.
Other Information
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of one year of RN experience.
- Meditech experience preferred.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through available resources.
- Participation in staff meetings, in-services, and documentation reviews.
- Assistance in orientation and mentoring of staff.
- Ability to perform analytical and decision-making functions with minimal supervision.
- Recognition of when to seek assistance or consultation.
- Understanding of hospital and departmental policies, including safety procedures.
- Awareness of hospital programs and services.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
- RN license in MA.
- BLS and/or ACLS certification.
Additional Certifications
- ICU FLOAT S1 and M2-ACLS
- Emergency Department PALS and ACLS
- PACU ACLS PALS
- Interventional PALS and ACLS
