Summary

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Therapist is responsible for providing trauma-informed therapy services to individuals with mental illness, who also have a secondary diagnosis of intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD). Clients may also present with various physical challenges. The role will involve client engagement, therapy, treatment planning, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide outreach and engagement services to individual clients participating in the ACT Program
  • Share stories of own success in accordance with comfort level
  • Facilitate group conversation with clients, family members and legal guardians about available resources at Envision Unlimited and the MH system at large.
  • Have input in the development of treatment plan goals
  • Accompany clients on recreational activities and Drop-in Center events
  • Assist staff to develop resources for clients and link them to appropriate services
  • Provide individual and group peer counseling
  • Able to develop crisis and medication adherence plans with clients
Required Qualifications
  • Community presence: Willingness to travel and engage with clients in the community 50-75% of the time.
  • Transportation: Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and active car insurance.
  • Work hours: Day shift, Monday to Friday (CST).
Positions Supervised

No supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities (continued)
  • Manage new client referrals, including obtaining consents and liaising with guardians and site staff.
  • Conduct mental health assessments using the IM/CANS tool and develop treatment plans.
  • Provide individual therapy and assessments for clients aged 18-65+ with dual diagnoses.
  • Deliver therapy services in-person and via telehealth, based on client needs.
  • Coordinate with external agencies to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain clinical documentation standards and ensure timely completion.
  • Respect diversity and foster an inclusive environment for all individuals.
Requirements

Education, skills, and experience:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • At least three years' experience in social services, focusing on mental health or I/DD.
  • Experience with diverse populations with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid standards (preferred).
  • Strong communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and pass background check.
