Job summary

TPC is seeking a seasoned Chemical Engineer with 8+ years in chemicals, refining, or petrochemical manufacturing to lead operations, process safety, and capital projects at our Houston site.

You will mentor engineers, drive KPI improvements, and collaborate across Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to achieve production and customer objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with 8+ years in chemicals, refining, or petrochemical manufacturing.
• Minimum 3 years of supervision of technical or operating staff.
• Experience with PSM 1910.119 and EPA RMP.
• Experience with process historian and data monitoring tools such as IP21, OSI PI, or SEEQ.
• Experience with Aspen+ or similar process modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of PHA, MOC and PSM compliance metrics.
• Knowledge of Capital Project development and execution, including FEL and Stage Gate concepts.

Responsibilities

• Ensure alignment with established work processes & deliverables across operations, engineering, and capital programs.
• Drive metric review and action plans for optimal operation of process units daily, weekly, and monthly.
• Oversee the development and utilization of Operating KPI's to maintain safe, reliable and efficient unit production.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Production and Process Improvement Engineers with technical guidance to staff.
• Coordinate with Department Managers to utilize support resources across site-wide initiatives.

• Support best-in-class EHS&S performance through ownership of key PSM elements.
• Champion TPC culture by modeling TPC values within the engineering organization.
• Ensure timely technical support on environmental release calculations and capital project support.
• Adhere to safety, health and environmental policies in all work.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience in a chemicals, refining, or petrochemical manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in supervision of technical or operating staff.
• Excellent critical thinking, leadership, analytical and communication skills.
• Experience with PSM 1910.119 as well as EPA RMP and its functional application to manufacturing.
• Experience with process historian and data monitoring tools such as IP21, OSI PI, or SEEQ.
• Experience with Aspen+ or similar process modeling tools.
• Strong understanding of PHA, MOC and PSM compliance metrics.
• Knowledge of Process Safety design concepts and documentation requirements and their application.
• Experience with Capital Project development and execution, including FEL and Stage Gate concepts.

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge of Oracle, SAP or similar ERP database management systems.
• Certification in Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
• Practical experience with extractive distillation operations.
• Experience with cost control, developing, and tracking annual budgets.
