Job summary

Lam Research in the San Francisco Bay Area is seeking a Manager of Supply Chain Business Managers. You will lead SBMs to drive supplier excellence, manage multiple suppliers, and optimize material flow across a global production cycle.

Expect to leverage data-driven planning, monitor supplier performance, and collaborate with engineering to resolve complex issues ensuring on-time delivery and cost efficiency. Hybrid on-site and remote work options are available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5-8 years of supervisory experience.
  • 10 years of experience managing global factories and various commodities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with scalable and repeatable results.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the SBM function.
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases.
  • Defines metrics and monitors supplier performance against these expectations to ensure continuous supplier improvement.
  • Regularly evaluate quality and performance benchmarks, and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection.
  • Continuously works on process improvement to deploy & develop best known methods related to procurement, inventory control & manufacturing strategies.
  • Establishes goals with supplier to ensure material delivery meets forecasted demand.
  • Represents supplier business management on a cross‑functional commodity team focusing on supply challenges.
  • Works with engineering and suppliers to resolve complex problems to ensure on‑time delivery of critical material.
  • Develops presentation, white papers, and process flow charts to support continuous process improvement projects.
  • Works with SCMs and suppliers to monitor product cost, preventing negative PPV and supporting cost reduction efforts.
  • May work with customers in auditing inventory levels and with vendors to comply with inventory policies.
  • Drive the improvement of suppliers’ manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and on-time delivery.

The impact you’ll make

At Lam, as a Manager of Supply Chain Business Managers (SBMs), you play a crucial role in partnering with suppliers to drive operational excellence and interfacing with internal customers to deliver to Lam’s goals. Your data‑driven approach ensures effective planning, scheduling, and monitoring material movement through our dynamic global production cycle. You’ll benchmark and monitor supplier performance to manage risk. By driving continuous supplier process improvements, you support the productivity and efficiency of Lam's operations.

As a SBM Manager, you will lead a team of SBMs to drive delivery and supplier operational excellence within a global supply chain. This role is within the Supply Chain Operations team and is instrumental in helping Supply Chain navigate through record ramps and other operational complexities thrown our way. In this position, you will have the responsibility of managing for multiple suppliers within the Controllers and Computers OEM commodity to fulfil LAM global factories delivery needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Represents supplier business management on a cross‑functional commodity team that focuses on supply challenges, and to ensure internal/external customer needs are satisfied.
  • Works with engineering and suppliers to resolve complex problems to ensure on‑time delivery of critical material to support customer and company requirements.
  • Develops presentation, white papers, and process flow charts to support continues process improvement projects.
  • Works with Strategic Commodity Managers (SCMs) and suppliers to monitor product cost, preventing negative PPV and supporting cost reduction efforts.
  • May work with customers in auditing customer inventory levels and with internal and external vendors to comply with inventory policies.
  • Drive the improvement of the suppliers’ manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and on‑time delivery.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5-8 years of supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge, experience and practical use of Microsoft Excel, SAP or other ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills - Macros, Pivot Tables, Data Lookup/Indexing, Dashboards.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 20% (including domestic and international), or as required.
  • Public speaking/ Executive level presentation skills.
  • Experience in managing $500M+ of supplier spend.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on‑site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On‑site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On‑site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on‑site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on‑site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: Min $114,000 - Max $253,000.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
