Job summary

Houston ISD is seeking a Stadium Manager to oversee activities for assigned stadiums and equipment staff, ensuring smooth execution of athletic programs and events.

You will supervise event staff, coordinate security, manage ticketing operations and vendor contracts, and maintain inventory and records. This role requires 5–7 years of supervisory experience in stadium settings, a High School Diploma or GED, and proficiency with PeopleSoft, SAP and Microsoft Office.

Job description

Manages activities for assigned stadium(s) and equipment employees. Schedules and coordinates athletic programs for the district and sports complexes.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises the preparation of activities held at the stadium.
  • Assigns event staff, including ticket-takers & ticket-sellers, announcers, time-keepers, and book keepers for all events held on the complex.
  • Oversees official assignments.
  • Distributes tickets and maintains records of collection/deposits of monies generated by ticket/concession sales.
  • Executes rental contracts with outside groups and staffs events.
  • Coordinates stadium security with the department, HISD Police Department, Houston Police Department, and Houston Fire Department.
  • Supervises all stadium personnel. Provides general supervision to Stadium Worker Team Leader, who performs many of the Manager, Stadium’s duties in her/his absence.
  • Maintains inventory of all physical properties and athletic equipment and supervises the distribution, maintenance, and repair of same.
  • Calls in work orders for facility repair.
  • Orders and distributes awards/tickets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION

WORK EXPERIENCE

5 to 7 years Supervisor experience and experience supervising an athletic stadium preferred

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

Level 4 -Manages. Accomplishes the majority of work objectives through the management of direct reports. Provides day-to-day direction to staff; may become directly involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems. Responsible for assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring application of policies and procedures. Receives assignments in the form of objectives, with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides input to hiring, performance and budget.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

-Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an “as needed” basis.

BUDGET AUTHORITY

-No budget development activity is required.

PROBLEM SOLVING

-Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude, but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS

-Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

-Information sharing - gives and receives information such as options, technical direction, instructions and reporting results. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and co-workers in own and other departments.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

-Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

-Work involves some exposure to moderate risk of accident and requires following basic safety precautions. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.
