Job summary

Millwood Hospital in Arlington, TX, part of Universal Health Services, Inc., seeks a Nurse Manager to lead and coordinate patient care, ensure standards of care, and supervise RNs and MHTs. The role requires a Texas RN license, at least 3 years of progressive nursing leadership, and participation in training and treatment teams.

Must be available for occasional overnight shifts and department orientations; the hospital emphasizes staff development, regulatory compliance, and collaborative care

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification within 30 days; CPI Crisis Prevention Intervention and Service Excellence Training within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate delivery of patient care in accordance with established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy.
  • Supervise House Supervisors, RNs and MHTs.
  • Monitor staffing needs on assigned shifts.
  • Assist CNO/ADON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events for RN/MHT staff.
  • Provide patient nursing assessments on an as-needed basis.
  • Participate in Treatment Team meetings as needed.

Millwood Hospital (a UHS Facility) is a 134-bed mental health facility that provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency treatment. Millwood’s caring, and multidisciplinary staff has successfully provided inpatient and outpatient mental health and chemical dependency care to children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults since 1971. Millwood Hospital is located in Arlington, TX in the heart of the city. It is 5 minutes away from AT&T Stadium home of the Dallas Cowboys. The Nurse Manger is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Performance & Improvement efforts, while providing supervision of House Supervisors, RN’s and MHTs. This position will monitor staffing needs on assigned shifts. This position is responsible for assisting the CNO/ADON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN//MHT staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed.

Must be available to work at least one overnight shift each quarter, occassional weekends, and midshifts.

Must be available to attend the Full hospital and departmental orientations: Week 1: M-F 8 AM - 5 PM /

Week 2: M & Tu 9 AM - 5 PM

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in nursing management; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of experience progressive nursing leadership experience. Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures and 24 hour shift staffing experience.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Texas State Board of Nursing

Additional Requirements: Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR certification within 30 days of employment and successful completion of training in Management of Assaultive Behavior (CPI) Crisis Prevention Intervention and Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment.
