Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Illinois is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the Assembly/Contract Packaging production. You will plan and direct production flow, schedule deadlines, and coordinate with coordinators, supervisors, and staffing agencies to meet production requirements.

The role requires a college degree (preferred), 5+ years of supervisory experience, strong problem-solving and financial acumen, and English/Spanish communication.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in a related industry with supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Effective verbal communication skills; English and Spanish preferred.
  • Above average mathematical skills and financial acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct and coordinate production work flow; prepare production schedule and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Maintain daily contact with project coordinators, production team leaders, set-up team, and temporary staffing agency to assure production requirements are met.
  • Coordinate production activities with related activities of other departments.
  • Ensure training of plant production personnel; update and maintain training documentation pertaining to production efficiency, safety, GMP's, SOP's, and quality procedures.
  • Establish and control conditions in production to achieve maximum efficiency; troubleshoot and resolve problems related to design, production, and quality issues.
  • Develop and maintain cost effective efficiency and quality improvements.
  • Promote innovation to achieve increased quality and productivity with Assembly Line Leaders.
  • Direct supervision of Production Supervisors and Support Supervisors.
  • Evaluate and review employee performance for both salaried and hourly employees.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels; assist as needed in resolving employee issues and discipline.
  • Comply with all safety and environmental rules and regulations; create and maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Liaise with vendors and contractors.
  • Participate in the budget process.
  • Assist General Manager with executing operating strategies and plans, and achieving company goals and objectives

The Opportunity:

The salary range for this position is $97,125.00 - $161,875.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your pay will be based on factors such as your skills, experience, and education.
