The Opportunity:

The Quality Manager ensures that quality standards are met and maintained by understanding, implementing, and enforcing Customer, Regulatory, and Smurfit Westrock processes, policies, and procedures. The role also involves internal and external quality complaint resolution, conducting audits, and ensuring smooth operations within the production facility.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

  1. Review, approve, and implement facility and corporate standard operating procedures.
  2. Coordinate and conduct internal, customer, supplier, subcontractor, and regulatory audits.
  3. Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  4. Investigate risks, failures, complaints, and oversee corrective/preventive actions.
  5. Collaborate with production managers to improve product quality and reliability while minimizing costs.
  6. Track and analyze quality issues and customer complaints, leading improvement initiatives.
  7. Approve site-specific or one-time occurrences such as protocols, deviations, waivers, or releases.
  8. Utilize enterprise technology to analyze complaints, track corrective actions, and resolve product rejection issues.
  9. Implement facility improvement initiatives based on performance data.
  10. Lead quality technicians and SQF readiness resources, ensuring efficient processes and prioritized work.
  11. Provide tools and training for quality management and improvements.

What you need to succeed:

  1. High School diploma or G.E.D., bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. At least 3 years of manufacturing experience in a quality leadership role.
  3. 3 years of experience in a production supervisory role.
  4. Proficiency in analytical and statistical quality tools such as SPC and SQC.
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and engage teams.
  6. Proven problem-solving skills.
  7. Thorough knowledge of quality standards and methodologies.
  8. Ability to learn proprietary software and enterprise complaint management systems.
  9. Professional training and certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO) are preferred.
