Job summary

Lead Electrical Design Analysis Manager

Lead the team responsible for the electrical innovation behind industry‑leading hearing technology while shaping the future of Starkey’s Research & Development organization. As the leader of Electrical Design Analysis, you will drive technical excellence, mentor and develop top engineering talent, and influence the strategy, processes, and technologies that power next‑generation products from concept through commercialization.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the leadership and development of Starkey’s Electrical Design Analysis (EDA) function and serves as a senior leader within Hardware Engineering. Your primary duty is to provide clear communication, technical leadership, and team management to maintain and mature engineering excellence within the group, ensuring employee competence and engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Represent EDA Engineering across the new product development community by providing program planning support, resource management estimates, development model recommendations, and technology maturity assessments.
  • Lead electrical development, quality‑of‑service, performance, and hardware design functions throughout all stages of new product development and sustainment.
  • Manage and develop the EDA staff, including establishing organizational strategy, creating job descriptions, planning resource allocations, managing PTO and performance reviews, and maintaining high morale and teamwork.
  • Coach and train team members on electrical hardware design of hearing aids and accessories, ensuring compliance with standards, patent activity awareness, and continuous professional growth.
  • Develop and improve EDA processes, collaborating with the Project Management Office and other R&D groups to drive product development process improvements and Kaizen activities.
  • Track and measure EDA team performance, creating scorecards, escalating issues appropriately, and setting annual objectives to drive strategic improvements.
  • Serve as a liaison to other R&D teams, fostering cross‑functional execution and competitive analysis of electrical design and performance.
  • Create and manage the annual budget for EDA Engineering headcount and spending in line with revenue goals.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering experience in a product development environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of management or supervisory experience.
  • Preferred experience in the hearing industry or medical device industry.
Knowledge / Technical Skills
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge in electrical design including electronic components, mixed‑signal design, SiPi, and PCB layout.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of schematic and layout CAD packages such as Siemens Xpedition, Altium, and Cadence Allegro.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of circuit simulation tools including SPICE, Q3D, HFSS, SIWave, and Maxwell.
  • Working knowledge of DSP, SoC, and PMIC technologies.
  • Working knowledge of analog‑to‑digital and digital‑to‑analog circuits.
  • General to intermediate knowledge of acoustics, hearing aid design, and hearing aid systems.
  • Advanced to expert knowledge of product development best practices such as DFM, DOE, DRM, DFMEA, and gNPI.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office and project management tools like MS Project.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, attention to detail, time and task management, planning, problem‑solving, decision‑making, motivational, and team‑building skills.
  • Strong work ethic, passion for managing people and processes, and ability to handle multiple complex situations concurrently.
