Essential Functions

Implement threat management strategies, standards, procedures and accountability policies at enterprise-level to prevent internal or external attacks or attempts to infiltrate company email, data, e-commerce or other systems. Oversight and management of the Cyber Command Center or other Cyber Security domains.

About the Role

FedEx is seeking an experienced and strategic Mgr, Cyber Security to take on the specialized role of leading the Business Information Security Office (BISO) for the Data and AI portfolio. Reporting to the Information Security department, this individual will act as the crucial security leader and bridge between our portfolio leadership and the central information security team. The BISO will be responsible for proactively embedding security, privacy, and risk management into the entire lifecycle of our data and AI initiatives. The goal is to ensure our data assets are protected and our AI systems are secure, trustworthy, and compliant, enabling the portfolio to innovate responsibly and at speed.

Portfolio‑Specific Security Engagement
  • Support and champion the security strategy for the Data and AI portfolio that aligns with the corporate security program while addressing the unique risks of big data, analytics, and machine learning.
  • Advise portfolio leadership on security and privacy matters, translating complex technical risks into business impact to inform strategic decisions.
  • Be the front door of engagement for the portfolio to the broader InfoSec portfolio.
Risk Management
  • Identify, assess, and document security risks to business operations and data.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security controls and recommend enhancements.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to ensure they understand and accept security risks.
Secure Development And Operations (MLSecOps)
  • Collaborate directly with data scientists and engineers to integrate security controls into data pipelines and the MLOps lifecycle.
  • Champion "secure by design" and "privacy‑by‑design" principles for all new data and AI projects.
Governance, Compliance, And Incident Response
  • Ensure portfolio compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards.
  • Serve as the security lead for the portfolio during incident response activities, providing critical context on data and AI systems.
  • Support vendor security assessments for third‑party data sources and AI tools.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing security programs, in information security, IT audit, or risk management.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of security frameworks and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
  • Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience securing data‑intensive environments (e.g., data lakes, data warehouses, cloud data platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks).
  • Strong understanding of the AI/ML lifecycle and associated security risks. Familiarity with MLSecOps principles is a significant plus.
  • In‑depth knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and their application in analytics and AI.
  • One or more of the following professional certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or CISA.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and partnering closely with development or data science teams.
Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree/equivalency in information technology, computer science or related field.

Minimum Experience

Seven (7) years’ experience in an IT corporate environment with expertise in securing platforms and operating systems.

Domicile Information

This position can be domiciled anywhere in the United States. The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. Preference is for employee to be hybrid in Memphis, TN or another corporate FedEx office.

Pay Transparency

U.S. Pay Range: $9,208.38/month - $16,575.08/month, Colorado Pay Range: $9,208.38/month - $15,884.45/month, New York Pay Range: $9,719.96/month - $16,575.08/month, New York City Pay Range: $11,766.26/month - $16,575.08/month
