Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding seeks a seasoned administrative leader to oversee finance, HR, purchasing, and R&D tasks. You will coordinate personnel transfers, manage Process Director invoices, and ensure compliance and timely monthly reporting across the ET&D division.

The role requires 6+ years in progressive admin/supervisory roles, with naval/shipbuilding context preferred. On-site in Newport News; strong leadership and data analysis skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master’s Degree and 4 years relevant experience
• NNPS graduate and NNS Apprentice School graduate credentials are required or highly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership in a complex administrative and financial environment

The Role

Represents organizational unit on administrative matters. Recommends, interprets, and/or implements company and internal administrative policies and procedures. Performs as a generalist a combination of administrative tasks in such functional areas as finance, human resources, purchasing, research and development. May prepare budgeting, project scheduling, and statistical reports as required.

This leader will oversee and manage employees on loan to the ET&D division (supporting submarines and aircraft carriers), oversight and collaboration w/ ET&D managers ensuring compliance and education of the process, oversight of competitive and non-competitive transfers of personnel (and touchpoints w/ managers), submitting and managing Process Director invoices for subcontractor labor (coordination w/ ET&D managers) to ensure the value of the work being performed is accomplished. Additionally, the incumbent will have oversight and execution of submitting DD254s for contracted work, partnering w/ Accounting to resolve user and process errors, and monthly reporting.

Must Have

• Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience
• NNS Apprentice School graduate
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
• Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience
• High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience

Nice to Have

• Strong financial background (accurate accounting)
• Knowledge of shipbuilding and forecasting (to support NNS and MT resources)
• Ability to deep dive processes in an effort to streamline and/or improve business operations
• Ability to analyze, interpret, manage, and communicate data (subject matter expert in excel)
• Strong leadership and healthy communication skills
• Able to work in a fast paced, high demand work environment
