Qualifications

• Current enrollment in a MA/MS in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling graduate program with an approved field placement.
• Trained in Intensive Field-Based Services (Intensive Care Coordination & Intensive Home-Based Services, Core Practice Model) preferred.
• Desire to work with high-risk children, adolescents, adults and/or families within mental health/education/child welfare systems preferred.
• Availability to be on-call for crisis-related services required.
• Bi-lingual/Bi-literate in Spanish preferred.
• Valid California Driver's License and proof of auto insurance required.
• Must fulfill all employment requirements including background checks, medical TB test, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Providing individual psychotherapy weekly for children on caseload in collaboration with your clinical Supervisor.
• Provides consultation with teaching staff for the child's academic achievement as appropriate.
• Maintain positive, open communication with other departments and staff for effective collaboration on treatment issues.
• Attend I.E.P. meetings to update goals and objectives for students on caseload on campus and in the community.
• Maintain accurate clinical treatment and process notes for sessions.
• Participate in caseload meetings and implement appropriate clinical interventions as needed.
• Assess children on caseload when there is danger to self or others and make ongoing assessments per state laws.
• Follow policies when a child’s needs assessment for hospitalization is made, and provide follow-up with supervisor; resolve conflicts between students or staff.
• Make recommendations for ancillary services such as psychological testing, psychiatric evaluations, and educational assessments.
• Liaise with parents, group homes or foster homes for ongoing student achievement.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

The Intern Therapist is responsible for the delivery of coordinated and collaborative clinical services to children, adolescents, and families across Non-Public School settings. Such services shall be consistent with Agency policy and procedures, clinical supervision, the Core Practice Model, and the standards of practices for Marriage and Family Therapist Interns, or Clinical Social Worker Interns within the State of California.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Providing individual psychotherapy weekly for children on caseload in collaboration with your clinical Supervisor


• Provides consultation with teaching staff, when appropriate and necessary for the child's academic achievement


• Maintain positive, open communication with other departments and staff ensuring effective collaboration and following through on specific treatment issues and concerns


• Attend I.E.P. meetings on campus and in the community to assist in updating goals and objectives, I.E.P. preparation of social and emotional goals and objectives of students on caseload


• Maintain accurate clinical treatment and process notes for sessions held


• Participate in meetings concerning caseload, as required, and as needed appropriate clinical interventions due to substance abuse, truancy, and non-academic achievement


• Assess children on caseload when staff reports a danger to self or others; or when in session, make on-going assessments based on the guidelines of the Marriage, Family and Child Therapist laws for the State of California


• Follow policies and procedures when a child's needs assessment for hospitalization and make necessary child abuse reports as stated by the State of California, with necessary follow up to supervisor. Provide as necessary, conflict resolution between students or with a student and staff


• Make recommendations for appropriate ancillary services such as psychological testing, psychiatric, and educational evaluations


• Liaison with parents, group homes or foster homes for the on-going academic achievement of student


• Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

In the course of performing this job, the incumbent typically spends time standing, walking on sloped/hilly areas of campus, carrying, driving, lifting (up to 40 pounds), listening, speaking, reaching, writing, and participating in restraint procedures.

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in Masters of Arts/Science (M.A./M.S.) in Clinical Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Counseling graduate program which has a Memorandum of Understanding with Haynes Family of Programs to provide field practice placements


• Trained in Intensive Field-Based Services (Intensive Care Coordination & Intensive Home-Based Services, Core Practice Model, Wraparound Roles, etc.) preferred


• A desire to work with high-risk children, adolescents, adults and/or families within a Mental Health, Educational, Child Welfare and/or Juvenile Probation systems preferred


• Availability to be on-call for crisis-related services required


• Bi-lingual/Bi-literate in Spanish preferred


• Valid California Drivers License and proof of auto insurance required


• Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional reference checks, physical examination with TB test, and drug screening
