Job summary

Americas Beverage Company- Kroger seeks a maintenance mechanic to support preventative maintenance, repair machinery and plant utilities, and drive plant reliability. You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems, fabricate parts, and document work orders in a fast-paced food manufacturing setting.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in maintenance or relevant technical training, basic PLC knowledge, and a strong sense of urgency to reduce downtime while ensuring safety and regulatory

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge with attention to detail.
• Experience in food manufacturing and GMP knowledge preferred.
• Experience with maintenance systems and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, structures, piping, and electrical systems.
• Set up and use machine tools (lathe, grinder, drill press, milling) to repair parts.
• Troubleshoot, repair production and facility equipment for efficiency.
• Complete work orders and handle emergencies as needed.
• Keep maintenance area clean and organized.
• Document work order information and completion.
• Support predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
• Contribute to plant initiatives to minimize downtime and optimize the plant.

Description:

Perform tasks related to preventative maintenance, mechanical machine repairs, inspection and testing of equipment, building maintenance and specific projects. Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire plant in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy.
Provide leadership that embodies our 7 Kroger Manufacturing High Performance Work System principles. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the facility.
• Set up and use machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill press and milling machine to repair or fabricate parts.
• Troubleshoot issues, repair failures of production and facility equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
• Complete assigned work orders and unplanned/emergency tasks as required.
• Maintain maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Utilize maintenance systems as necessary to complete daily, weekly, monthly duties.
• Operate material handling equipment safely.
• Document work order information/completion.
• Provide support to team in the predictive and preventative maintenance program.
• Participate and actively support all plant initiatives such as minimizing or eliminating downtime and ensuring plant optimization.
• Perform duties accurately and safety in a fast-paced environment.
• Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
• Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
• Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

• Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy and precision.
• Proficient mechanical knowledge and skills one or more of the following maintenance classification: electrical, welding and fabrication, utilities, and basic PLCS.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong sense of urgency during periods of downtime.
• Team player with positive attitude.
• Reliable and dependable.
• Self-motivated and self-directed; ability to organize and define tasks with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer use, knowledge and skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines with limited supervision.
• Strong planning, prioritization, and organizational skills.

Desired:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Any experience in food manufacturing and knowledgeable in Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP).
• 2+ years maintenance mechanic technician experience or relevant technical training/certification.
