Job summary

Schwan Cosmetics USA in Murfreesboro, TN is seeking a skilled Cosmetic Compounder to join our production team. You will mix and blend cosmetic raw materials using Symex mixers and specialized equipment to match exact color shades and textures while ensuring quality.

In this role you will follow cGMP guidelines, support inventory and process improvement, and collaborate with the team to meet client specifications on every batch.

Qualifications

• Color vision required; hue test may be administered.
• High School Diploma or GED required; chemistry/biology coursework preferred.
• 1–3 years of compounder or batch-processing experience.
• Intermediate math; ratios, normalization, basic algebra, unit conversions.
• Basic PC skills; ability to read/write/communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot Symex mixers to blend raw materials into cosmetic colors and formulations.
• Perform quality checks and shade matching; adjust formulas per client specs.
• Train and guide other compounders; learn SAP functions as backup Team Leader.
• Locate, pre-weigh, and manage raw materials to support line efficiency.
• Clean and sanitize equipment per cGMP guidelines; maintain hygiene and safety.

Position Summary

In this role,you will be responsible for mixing and blending unique cosmetic raw materials using advancedSymex mixers and specialized compounding equipment.You will combine chemistry and craftsmanship—matching exact color shades,perfecting formula textures,and ensuring every batch meets high client standards.

Essential Responsibilities

• 30% | Symex Mixer Operation: Primary responsibility for operating and troubleshooting Symex mixers to blend raw materials into precise cosmetic colors and formulations.

• 20% | Quality Control & Shade Matching: Perform quality checks,shade matching,and formula adjustments.Run solvent checks in the SSC program with pre-determined adjustments to ensure exact client specifications.

• 15% | Leadership & Training: Train and guide other compounders on equipment operation and shade matching.Learn SAP functions to serve as a backup Team Leader.

• 10% | Material Staging & Inventory: Locate,pre-weigh,and control raw materials to optimize line efficiency and supply bulk materials to filling lines on schedule.

• 10% | cGMP & Equipment Care: Clean and sanitize equipment per cGMP guidelines to maintain strict quality,hygiene,and safety standards.

• 10% | Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in housekeeping,safety committees,and process improvement projects.

• 5% | Operations Support: Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Color Vision: Must pass a Hue Color Test. (Critical for shade matching and color accuracy).

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience).Some college coursework in Chemistry,Biology,or relevant science/engineering fields preferred.

• Experience: 1–3 years of experience as a Compounder II (or equivalent experience in batch processing with similar reaction vessels).

• Mathematical Skills: Intermediate math skills required (ratios,normalization,basic algebra,and unit conversions).

• Technical Skills: Basic PC skills,mechanical aptitude,knowledge of raw material properties,and ability to read,write,and communicate fluently in English.

• Competencies: Strong attention to detail, proactive decision-making, collaboration, organization, and emerging leadership skills.
