Job Overview

We are seeking a Metrology Technician I at our Safety Assessmetn site in Reno, NV.

BASIC SUMMARY:

Develops and evaluates metrology calibration systems that measure characteristics of objects, substances, or phenomena, such as length, mass, time, temperature, electric current, luminous intensity, and derived units of physical or chemical measure. Identifies magnitude of error sources contributing to uncertainty of results to determine reliability of measurement process in quantitative terms. Develops calibration methods and techniques based on principles of measurement science, technical analysis of measurement problems and accuracy and precision requirements.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment within applicable SOP’s, regulatory, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure proper installation and operation of machinery and equipment in order to meet qualification standards.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities on equipment as necessary.
  • Order equipment, replacement parts, and service as directed by the team lead.
  • Coordinate the repair of laboratory equipment by outside vendors.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures via the building automation system and assist with the issuing of deviations.
  • Assist with re-qualification validations to meet performance standards and protocols.
  • Utilize the CMMS to track and close equipment work orders.
  • Tag all new equipment and enter into the CMMS.
  • Participates in 24-hour on-call support for freezer/refrigerator as scheduled. Responds to emergencies as needed.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) required.
  • Experience:1-2 years related experience working with laboratory equipment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • Certification/Licensure:None
  • Other: Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.

The pay range for this position starts at $25.00/hr. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
