Job summary

Focus is seeking a Metrology Specialist to join the Quality team in our on-site facility in Sallisaw, OK. You will ensure the accuracy of manufactured components through precision measurement, calibration, and inspection in a high-volume die-casting environment.

You will program and operate CMMs (Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Hexagon), develop inspection plans, analyze GD&T data, and support FAI/PPAP submissions while driving continuous improvement with engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate Degree or technical certification in Metrology or Engineering Technology preferred.
• 3+ years of quality inspection or metrology experience in a manufacturing environment, die-casting experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in operating and programming CMM software platforms; strong GD&T understanding.
• Experience with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Precision inspection using CMM, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical systems.
• CMM programming and operation to measure complex geometries and critical dimensions.
• Develop measurement programs, inspection plans, and standard procedures.
• Analyze data to ensure GD&T conformance with drawings and customer specs.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Metrology Specialist to join our Quality team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of manufactured components through precision measurement, inspection, and calibration activities in a high-volume die-casting environment. You will support overall quality assurance by verifying that parts strictly conform to dimensional, geometric, and tolerance requirements, directly contributing to defect reduction and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Precision Inspection: Perform detailed inspections of die-cast components using CMM, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical measurement systems.

• CMM Programming & Operation: Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (e.g., Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Hexagon) to measure complex geometries and critical dimensions.

• Inspection Development: Create, maintain, and execute measurement programs, inspection plans, and standard procedures.

• Data Analysis & GD&T: Analyze measurement data to ensure complete compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T standards, and customer specifications.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to troubleshoot dimensional anomalies and support root-cause investigations.

• Quality Audits & Submissions: Support First Article Inspections (FAI), PPAP submissions, and quality system audits.

• Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and maintain metrology tools to guarantee traceability back to national standards.

• Documentation: Document inspection results accurately and maintain quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.

• Continuous Improvement: Work alongside tooling and process engineers to drive die-casting process enhancements and measurement efficiency.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate Degree or technical certification in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.

• Experience: 3+ years of quality inspection or metrology experience in a manufacturing environment (die-casting experience strongly preferred).

• Technical Skills:

  • Proven proficiency in operating and programming CMM software platforms.

  • Strong expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

  • Hands-on mastery of precision measuring instruments and blueprint interpretation.

• Quality Systems: Familiarity with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management frameworks.

• Software: Proficient in Microsoft Office and specialized metrology/data management software.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with die-casting processes and specialized tooling.

• Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools.

• Practical knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Split between a climate-controlled quality laboratory and an active manufacturing plant floor.

• Requires standing for extended periods, working around noise, heat, and active machinery.

• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
