Job summary

Applied Materials is seeking a Metrology Specialist to validate supplier material, develop inspection methods, and uphold quality standards across production. Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T for dimensional metrology
  • Hands-on metrology experience with CMM programming
  • Experience with Zeiss Calypso and related inspection tools
  • Mitutoyo AOI experience is optional
  • Knowledge of precision machining and coatings is desirable
  • Willingness to share metrology best practices in a team

Responsibilities

  • Validate incoming supplier material against part print specification using CMM programming
  • Design and implement inspection/testing methods for products and production equipment
  • Develop and apply measurement procedures and project methodologies
  • Prepare documentation for inspection/testing procedures and recommend corrective actions
  • Develop quality standards aligned with customer requirements and perform related tests
  • Analyze operational data and lead internal/supplier audits as needed
  • Track qualification status and review reliability test results
  • Read drawings and interpret specifications, adapting measuring devices as necessary
  • Collaborate within a dynamic team and share best practices across sites
  • 2nd or 3rd shift availability as needed

Key Responsibilities

Utilizes Coordinate Measuring Machine programming capabilities to validate incoming supplier material for compliance to the part print specification.

Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/ or production equipment while reducing measurement error.

Develops methods and parameters, project methodology and/ or project proposals.

Develops and uses procedures. Prepares documentation for inspection/ testing procedures. Recommends corrective action for procedural, product, or process deficiencies.

Develops and applies quality standards in accordance with company and customer requirements. Develops and conducts related tests.

Analyze operational data; Develop and implement recommendations. Participates in and may lead internal and supplier audits.

Evaluates work methods, procedures and policies. Tracks progress of qualification status, reviews reliability test results, determines disposition of non‑compliant products, reviews and releases qualification packs

Utilizes drawings, specifications, industry standards, and sketches, adapting inspection measuring devices and procedures when necessary. Read and interpret technical drawings and specification requirements.

Reduces qualification cycle time and cost while still meeting quality performance requirements.

Work as part of a dynamic functional team. Willing to collaborate, develop and share measurement best known methods across metrology sites.

One position available for 2nd or Third shift

Preferred Qualifications
  • Detailed knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for application during dimensional metrology inspections.
  • Experience using Hand Tools for Metrology – Surface Plates, Pin Gages, Calipers, Micrometers, etc.
  • Advanced level experience on Zeiss CMM Calypso Programming
  • Willing to share metrology best practices in a team dynamic
  • Experience on Mitutoyo Automated Optical Inspection (optional)
  • Knowledge of Precision Machining, Secondary Processes, Coatings, Plating, etc. – is desirable (optional)

Knowledge of Metrology Practices and CMM Zeiss Calypso Experience, Zeiss O-Inspect Experience, and Industrial CT scanning experience preferred

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
