Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking an equipment engineer to monitor wafer fabrication equipment, qualify new tools, and drive yield enhancement through data-driven decisions. The role includes coordinating downtime, performing process adjustments, and communicating findings through presentations.

Ideal candidates have a BS/MS in engineering or physical sciences, 2+ years in semiconductors, and strong problem-solving skills with Python and data analysis experience.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering/Physical Science or related field.
• 2+ years semiconductor experience (metrology equipment preferred).
• Experience troubleshooting equipment or process failures.
• Exposure to structured problem solving (8D, 7-step, etc.).
• Understanding of statistical methods.
• Experience scripting in Python, VBA, or equivalent language.
• Experience with data analysis software (Spotfire, JMP, MATLAB).
• Good presentation and technical writing skills.
• Understanding of Change Point Management, Lean, TPS, or 5S principles.
• Able to wear cleanroom PPE and lift up to 25 lbs.
• Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
• Willing to relocate to Austin, Texas.

Responsibilities

• Monitor wafer fabrication equipment and respond to issues.
• Qualify new manufacturing equipment.
• Coordinate scheduling of equipment qualifications and downtime with manufacturing.
• Use software to analyze data and identify trends for processing decisions.
• Adjust parameters when needed and monitor tools post-maintenance.
• Execute in-line changes (CPM) to processes or equipment.
• Communicate technical information within the department via presentations.
• Regularly revise SOPs and improve processes to increase capability.
• Monitor operations costs and develop cost-reduction projects.
