Job summary

Lam Research in the United States is seeking a Metrology Engineer to help develop next‑generation on‑tool metrology and sensing technologies for smarter semiconductor manufacturing.

You will work at the intersection of semiconductor processes, optical sensing, machine vision, spectroscopy, and data analytics to transform raw sensor data into actionable insights that improve equipment performance and wafer outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, or PhD with no prior professional experience, or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong experimental design and statistical analysis capabilities.
• Experience with Python, MATLAB, R, JMP or equivalent for data analysis.
• Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for technical audiences.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy metrology systems for wafer characterization and process monitoring.
• Design experiments to characterize sensor performance and quantify measurement uncertainty.
• Develop calibration methods, models, and analytics for optical and spectral data.
• Build algorithms using physics-based, statistical, and ML techniques for metrology inference.
• Correlate measurements with reference metrology and generate wafer-level analytics.
• Characterize optical subsystems and sensor hardware, including spectrometers and cameras.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to define requirements and targets.
• Support product development from concept to deployment, including documentation and visualization tools.
