Essential Functions
- Maintain laboratory and pharmaceutical manufacturing instrumentation to industry and pharmacopeial standards using practical and theoretical knowledge.
- Perform quality control audits to ensure data accuracy and SOP and cGMP compliance.
- Conduct cGMP pharmaceutical backups, data integrity checks, and disaster recovery in compliance with 21 CFR Part 11.
- Perform building and equipment maintenance tasks for the Facilities Department.
- Identify and resolve technical problems independently; assist peers with troubleshooting and training.
- Support engineering in qualifications and validations.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for instrument issues internally and to clients.
- Ensure calibration of equipment at the point of use in manufacturing operations.
- Perform maintenance, testing, and calibration on scales, gauges, thermometers, and other laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
- Assist with investigations related to instrument failures.
Requirements for Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required; in Chemistry, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a calibration technician in the pharmaceutical industry required; 5 years preferred.
- Experience with LIMS preferred.
- Experience in pharmaceutical production, especially aseptic/sterile environments, preferred.
- Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel); willingness to learn other database software.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and move in confined laboratory spaces; proper equipment analysis and instrument monitoring.
- Exposure to heat and cold typical of pharmaceutical production.
