Job summary

US Farathane in Texas is seeking a Metrologist to lead the area of dimensional conformance in the metrology lab. You will ensure calibration of fixtures, gages and check fixtures and make final decisions on dimensional layouts.

Responsibilities include performing capability studies, maintaining calibration programs, updating lab records, and operating a CMM while learning its programming. You will contribute to 5S compliance and continuous quality improvement in the plant.

Qualifications

  • Blueprint interpretation required.
  • GD&T interpretation required.
  • Experience with statistical techniques and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Verify hold log and assure product flow in and out of hold.
  • Submit annual validation parts and requests.
  • Capability studies and analysis.
  • Manage QAS equipment (gage/fixture) calibration and maintenance.
  • Maintain all lab records and 5S standards.
  • Operate CMM and learn programming of CMM.
  • Confirm a capable process and obtain QA approval to remove from control plan.
  • Verify service and product conformity.
  • Update Hold/Quarantine area and parts+ system.
  • Lead inspectors in capability studies.
  • Review Quality Books.
  • Perform corrective actions for non-conforming items.
  • Participate in safe, efficient plant operations.
  • No supervisory responsibilities.

Summary

Metrologist leads the area of dimensional conformance in the metrology lab. Responsible for maintaining calibration of all company holding fixtures, check fixtures and quality gages. Will make all final decisions with set-up and verification of dimensional layouts

and capability studies, if unclear direction is given from the customer or blueprint.

Essential Functions
  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Verify hold log assure product flow in and out of hold.
  • Submits annual validation parts and requests

  • Perform other duties as required for the safe, efficient operation of the plant and its employees.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities- This position does not supervise any employee
