Job summary

Job description

This is a Part-Time, Non-Civil Service position with the Metropolitan Action Commission (MAC). This position reports directly to the Head Start Transportation Manager and is supervised by the Executive Director.

  • Extensive background checks and random drug tests are required for applicants.

Part-Time Work Shifts:

Monday - Friday

6:45am - 10:45am

or

11:30am - 3:30pm

  • Drive for the MAC's Head Start program
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance as needed
  • Deliver meals to assigned centers
  • Act as a bus monitor when required
  • Transport children, parents, staff, and equipment safely and efficiently
  • Complete daily pre- and post-inspection checklists and observe cleaning schedules
  • Follow proper loading and unloading procedures
  • Submit legible weekly inspection sheets
  • Attend meetings and complete required training
  • Demonstrate work habits aligned with agency policies
  • Complete special assignments promptly
  • Ensure children are never left unattended
  • Assist with other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License with 'F' Endorsement (For Hire Endorsement)
  • Foreign accreditations are encouraged

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to drive a 14-passenger bus and other MAC vehicles
  • Good driving record in the past three years
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, standing, and bending
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Knowledge of street and highway safety
  • Ability to follow DHS rules and state law when transporting preschool children
