Job summary

Entergy Mississippi, LLC is seeking a Metering Technician to install, test, and maintain instrument transformer rated meters. You will troubleshoot communications, operate meter software, and support meter-related systems across field sites.

Requirements include electronics understanding, 3+ years utility field experience preferred, and EEI CAST testing. You will work onsite in Grenada, MS with up to 25% travel.

Job description

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

Legal Entity: Entergy Mississippi, LLC

Install, maintain and test all instrument transformer rated meters. Provide technical assistance/support for metering function and identify training needs.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Test, verify and troubleshoot all System tie points. Operate packaged meter and recorder software applications. Participate in the development of system standards. Oversee compliance with system standards. Provide support/training for IPPs and DGs.

Install and monitor all load research equipment. Prepare service orders, multiplier sheets, and associated paperwork for transformer rated meters. Maintain technical documentation for products and equipment used in the area. Assist in metrics gathering, analysis and reporting.

Troubleshoot communications of remote metering. Provide tech assistance/support for the communication of meter info to the various control groups (TOC, OIC, Substation Ops, Asset Planning, Load Survey, Billing).

Perform vector, load analysis and power factor tests on all metering installations. Develop metering schemes/specs for primary/substation jobs that optimize meter value. Program/troubleshoot high-end meters for special needs.

Calculate meter constants on all types of installations. Develop metering schemes/specs for primary/substation jobs that optimize meter value. Program/troubleshoot high-end meters for special needs.

Distribution Line outage restoration, such as scouting and refusing. Support all Safety Initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum experience required of the position

Basic understanding of electronics.

3+ years utility field experience preferred.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required Of The Position

Must have a good safety record and possess a safe attitude. Must have competent computer skills. Must have competent Mathematics and Trigonometry skills. Knowledge of basic electric circuit analysis, vector I phase or relationship. Knowledge of meter terminology is mandatory. Ability to work independently and with others. Must have customer oriented. Must be able to work in industrial and petrochemical plants. Must be a self-starter, dependable, have the ability to plan and organize.

Requires successful completion of the EEI CAST test.
